Our History

The inspiration to form the Professional Alliance for Children, a coalition of attorneys and financial professionals helping seriously ill children and their families, struck Jim Dell and Jon Beyrer while they were attending a legacy planning conference at Rady Children’s Hospital in the fall of 2010.  Their goal became to connect legal and financial professionals and empower them to help reduce both the financial and legal strains on families caring for an ill child.

The Professional Alliance for Children was incorporated as a public charity on April 1, 2011.  Already it has attracted wide interest and support from professionals seeking to donate their time and expertise to assist struggling families and their ill children.  Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers, families have already been helped with a wide spectrum of legal and financial issues, such as employment, citizenship, Medi-Cal, SSI, IHSS,  insurance coverage, legal consent, unlawful detainer, bankruptcy, and debt management.

The Professional Alliance for Children received 501(c) (3) nonprofit public charity status from the Internal Revenue Service on August 12, 2011, with an effective date of  April 1, 2011.

Our first family,  “Baby A” and her mother. arrived shortly after incorporation.   From their arrival, the Alliance has grown in both the number of volunteers and families served.
